What if a child dreamed of becoming something other than society had intended? What if a child aspired to be something greater? Not a quote from Gattaca but it was the quote that I was thinking of the entire film. This is a great example of what science fiction should do. Nichols manages to take us into an alternate future and make us question the morals and ethics of that society. Ethan and Jude play their respectively tragic characters very well, the ending scene in particular was very emotional to me. There’s definitely more to be said and analyzed here but I’ll save it for now.
