“Rumors about us came and went fast and furious.” Captures the adolescent ennui of growing up in the suburbs in early 00s, and when well off kids are left to their own devices there’s no telling what kind of cruelty they’ll become capable of. Film also reminded me a lot of Veronica Marsin terms of the tone and aesthetics from that era. Has some of the most interesting looking shots in all of Lin’s films. All that being said, it definitely feels like a debut from someone fresh out of film school. It’s pretty solid, but that’s all.
