Free Solo
I watched this for the first time around when it came out and have been enamored by Alex honnold as a guy since. Like this freak eats out of pans with spatulas and drinks straight from a pot but he also did quite possibly the most impressive athletic feat in human history
Free Solo
Great technical execution, but this film is completely devoid of character and humanity lol. Alex Honnold isn’t a particularly interesting or charismatic guy, so learning about him made the whole thing feel like a slog. I kept wanting to skip to the end just to watch him climb. Honestly, a time-lapse of the climb turned into a short film would’ve been more interesting, sorry.
Free Solo
Free Solo is a nothing short of remarkable. We get to see the inner workings of a man's journey to free solo El Capitan, one of the most daunting mountains for climbers in the world. In less capable hands, this would have been a less-interesting documentary, but because of the dynamic filming and consistent pace, this film never dips, never gets boring, and really lets you in on the life of someone who's not like everyone else. It is an absolute shame that I did not catch this when it was showing in IMAX, because I could imagine it would've been one of the most breathtaking things I'd ever see. Free Solo definitely is the documentary to beat this year, and rightfully so, since it really is an absolutely fantastic film.
Free Solo
Free Solo is a daunting film, with some of the best camerawork I’ve ever seen, and a subject who is equally as invigorating. One of the best documentaries that I’ve ever seen.
