Undoubtedly one of the greatest films ever made, Harakiri is an emotional tale of loss. It’s shot beautifully, the story is fantastic and final battle is something I’ll never forget watching. Influenced many films we love today, a truly amazing film.

Harakiri

Japanuary '25 🇯🇵 #1: Hara Kiri. Maybe, one of the most finest (if not the best) japanese film ever made, also with a very potent and mesmerizing theme among the subject: human tragedy and humanity itself.

Harakiri

Harakiri is powerful, restrained, and emotionally heavy, with a strong focus on honor and hypocrisy. The slow pacing works in its favor, building tension and impact as the story unfolds. I liked the atmospheric fight scene with the wind. Overall, Harakiri is a striking and thought-provoking samurai film that leaves a lasting impression.

Harakiri

A masterclass in suspense, Harakiri is a fine piece of cinema, and one that I’ve been meaning to watch for a very long time. I’m wanting to explore even more foreign cinema this year, venturing out of contemporary into some older classics, and I thought Harakiri would be the perfect choice to start this off. I can’t wait to get into more classic Asian cinema, since every film I’ve seen thus far has been absolutely amazing, and Harakiri is no different.
