Diary Entry forWeapons
This is great. Definitely my favourite horror of this year and one of the best horror films I’ve seen in a long time. Loved the mystery and suspense, it’s not too jumpy or scary and has a good mix of triller elements baked in. Original enough to start on its own with clear inspiration for within the genre, well worth a watch.

So I was eating dinner and Lucy goes ‘oh my sister has HBO Max, we can log in and use it if we want’ so I instantly throw my knife and fork down and downloaded it on the telly, log in and have a quick scroll, and boom I see ‘Weapons’. Lucy isn’t great with horrors but I managed to convince her (no peer pressure at all) to watch it as it’s been on my watch list for a while. Long story short; she didn’t like it. Multiple times she asked to turn it off for being too scared and multiple times i controlled the situation and kept it playing, like the empath i am. Shes now said if she needs a piss during the night I will have to go with her (pshhh yeah right😉 good luck waking me up for that!!!😴) Anyways, I enjoyed it, I found it fun and suspenseful, nice change of pace to the usual horror and the characters were decent; especially liked the school principal, Marcus, he was super nice and friendly throughout the film. Dinner got cold.

great film. i wonder if the nonlinear plot structure hurt the film more than it helped at times, but it's ultimately well worth the payoff. been a massive zach cregger fan since wkuk & can only hope that benedict wong's husband makes seven hot dogs as a direct reference to hot dog timmy.

Zach Cregger you brilliant freak!! Such an entertaining watch. Zach Cregger really proves again that he knows how to handle horror. Weapons doesn’t follow the traditional three-act structure—it’s non-linear, chapter-based, and throws us straight into the chaos. And it works. There’s no spoon-feeding, no overly neat setup. You’re just dropped in and left to feel your way through. It drags a bit in the middle, but the final act pulls things back hard. Cregger’s direction ties it all together: the storytelling, the visual tone, the effects—it all feels cohesive. You can tell there’s a strong vision here. It’s ambitious, messy in a good way, and keeps you engaged the whole time. Smart structure, great pacing (mostly), and strong direction. A bold, effective horror film that isn’t afraid to try something different.

the trauma for all those children holy shit, i dont think i would be able to handle this even if i go to therapy. that shit will haunt them for the rest of their lives and that in there is the real trauma of it. alex, what sweet smart boy who did not deserve to experience all of that shit or anyone else. i love love love the switching of perspectives in this one until we got the whole picture through alex. incredible incredible cinematography too. i, however still dont get what gladys’s motive in doing all that bcs she said it would make her feel better but the better in question is unseen? but then again whatever stop these horrible people do horrible things even without any motive. also hated every single adult in here just all annoying and incompetent.
