Heartbreaking, love and loss. To feel wanted and betrayed like Cabiria is throughout this film is simply hard to watch. The story flows well and acting is terrific, I especially like when she’s in the bathroom waiting to come out, because her ‘date’ is in the next room sleeping with his Mrs. Shows the symbolism of her life and being, destiny.

In Fellini On Fellini he writes, "I have an infinite capacity for amazement, and I don't see why I should set up a pseudo-rational screen to protect me from being amazed." That passage stuck with me when I was first exploring movies and starting to see in some 'starry-eyed' state just what the hell was all really out there to be found. I treasured this film once, and I treasure it now all these years later. I know all our star rates mean nothing sure sure, but it's the kind of movie here that makes me want to go back and round up a whole bunch of flicks to 5-stars retroactively. Did they crack open the world in some small way, reveal & confront something in us, or just give us a moment with something infinite for the mere cost of a few hours of the finite? This one did and continues to do so, and is honestly probably one of those I'll take with me to the end.
