Diary Entry forWorld of Tomorrow
Beautiful animation and voice acting makes this a mesmerising watch. Filled with emotion, World of Tomorrow is fantastic. The fact that Hertzfeldt's four-year-old niece Winona Mae voiced one of the two characters in this is very special, and well worth noting.

World of Tomorrow
Yeah this was deep deep. I think I’ll understand more upon rewatching, if I can ever be bothered to do so. I though the animation was visually uninteresting - at least not my style. But you go, you soar, Emily.
World of Tomorrow
What a way to start off 2018. World of Tomorrow is a short that has certainly grown on me, even more than when I first watched this short two years ago. World of Tomorrow takes existentialism to the next level, creating one of the most melancholic and thought-provoking films of all time. Don Hertzfeldt's World of Tomorrow is a stunning short and most certainly could be the best short of this century. That's a bold statement, but the film manages to back that statement up with ease.
World of Tomorrow
"This is your future, Emily Prime. It is sometimes a sad life, and it is a long life. You will feel a deep longing for something you cannot quite remember." Man, World of Tomorrow was deep. How would you react to seeing yourself from deep into the future? Would you react to it in horror? Would you react to it in awe? Looking through the eyes of a child, you see the severity of the future, but only focus on things that are in the moment. You don't realize what is going on, you just see images passing you, only focusing on things that are coming in front of you. You don't realize how grand of a scale things really are when you are stuck in your own little world. So, how would you react? This is exactly what World of Tomorrow asks. It's one of the deepest and meaningful films I have ever seen, and it's only 16 minutes long. This is my first dip into Hertzfeldt's work, but I am aware of his other pictures. I can say that I am blown away, just as this is unlike any animated feature that I have seen. While being quirky and silly, World of Tomorrow asks some important questions about yourself, such as "How do you see the future? Through the eyes of a small child or adult?" or "How do you tell a child that death is inevitable?". These questions are extremely mature while being presented as an animated feature. This contrast is extremely interesting and captivating. Honestly, World of Tomorrow is one of the most interesting films I have seen. From the animation to the maturity, this film is just amazing. Being the only film I have seen from the Animated Short Film category, I can already say this is going to be my favorite, and I hope this wins the Academy award. This film is breathtaking and an amazing film altogether.
