Really enjoyed this. Sure, it has its flaws, but it’s a fun time and the acting is fantastic. Mahershala Ali was particularly great, and gave a compelling performance. Looking forward to seeing him as blade. Very good.

Green Book

Green Book is a film that is driven by its charm. I found myself caving in to the charm at times, really enjoying the characters that were put forth. But, charm only gets you so far, and then the true film started to shine through. This is a good film, but it's nothing revolutionary like it makes itself out to be. It's take on race is something that has been covered countless times, really not offering anything new to the narrative, only seeming to put forth the fact that a white man is "broadening the horizons" so to say of his African American boss. That's a narrative that unfortunately has been told many times, and is very toxic in general, so it's sad to see that this film decided to really push that narrative, rather than focus on the bond that these two men had. The acting is good, especially Ali, but the script had some flaws, and the direction didn't add anything dynamic either. It's easy to see why people have enjoyed Green Book so much, since it charms it's way into hearts, but the overall story and presentation leaves you wishing that the film had taken a different route in portraying this story.

So if I'm not *black* enough and if I'm not *white* enough, and not *man* enough, then tell me, Tony, what am I?
