Pretty woman is actually pretty good. It’s funny and interesting despite not being all too original. It’s a story which has been told infinitely but the twist is this time the love interest starts as a prostitute. It’s played quite strangely but it does have its charm and works relatively well. Didn’t make me laugh as many others in this genre do but still it’s a good time.

Incrível como a Hollywood tem uma forma de representar o retrato da prostituição e essa questão de dinheiro e classe em diferentes épocas. Julia Roberts é o arquetipo da garota de programa que tem virtudes muito pessoais, que quer se encaixar no mundinho postiça do empresário interpretado pelo Richard Gere. Existe um choque de realidade, seja na questão monetária ou nos círculos sociais que ela se encaixa. Ele é bem idealizado, mas isso não é demérito, muito pelo contrário e o sonho utópico de uma Los Angeles que promete riquezas e o sonho da felicidade que só é possível por ser um conto de fada moderno. A sequência ao som de Pretty Woman se tornou lendária por si só!
