Diary Entry forSeven Samurai
One of the greatest films I’ve ever seen, loved every minute of this. The ending with the four graves is one of the greatest shots in all of cinema. “The Farmers Have Won, We Have Lost”. How unbelievably iconic, so well written and shot, a masterpiece in every definition. The samurai which is portrayed as the clown sacrificing himself to save the women was so well done and really made a big impact, the film is unbelievable and everyone should watch it.

Seven Samurai
According to people who have seen this film, Seven Samurai is Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece and a top 5 film on the website. I don't see it. I realize that Seven Samurai is a good film (don't get that twisted), but is it the 4th best movie ever made? It's a strong concept with a strong beginning and end (and when I say strong, I mean STRONG), but the middle is so painstakingly dull. I don't mind long run times for movies, but for this film, some footage could've been cut down and still have been good and more deserving of its current title by a significant amount. The first hour was captivating and kept me in my seat, and the last 30 minutes had that same effect, especially in the ending five minutes. I loved the tonal shift and contrast this movie takes at the end; it was unexpected and made the film have a very satisfying end. This film is undeniably good, and I'm logging it in at 7/10.
Seven Samurai
March Around Cinema '24 (4/30): Japan 🇯🇵. There are fundamental works consolidated par excellence, either because of how important they have been at the time, but also because to this day they are the pillar of many of the current feature films, and then, we have Seven Samurai, by the master Akira Kurosawa. An epic that we do not see very often actually, it gives us the first-hand experience of the battles in feudal Japan, the importance of the Japanese peasant and their lives, the camaraderie with its diverse cast of characters, and above all, each decision, motivation, reason, intimacy and leitmotif of the film matters as a whole, like our respiratory system. And that is hardly the most superficial analysis that can be made of the project, given that from where it can be seen, this work can be interpreted in multiple ways, despite the gargantuan length of the work, which is impressive because it couldn't work with a softer runtime. Each frame is a work of art, the prose is a haiku in motion, the characters and performances are as vital as the spirit of a samurai (with Mifune and Shimura being the MVPs), and overall, as carefully and perfectly constructed. Seven Samurai is an epic that, reiterating, redefined the oriental adventure to create a work that to this day must be lived, studied and kept alive until the end of time. And if you haven't experienced it yet, this is your chance.

Beyond masterpiece
Seven Samurai
