Diary Entry forBook of Shadows: Blair Witch 2
The idea to have the characters researching the original Blair Witch film sounds interesting, yet manages to fail spectacularly. The plot is absolutely all over the place, the pacing is horrendous and everyone gives terrible performances. The titles doesn’t even make sense as the ‘Book of Shadows’ isn’t mentioned once in the film. The music is straight trash and the film has almost no redeeming qualities. The only positive thing I have to say is that, at times, it’s almost so bad that it’s funny.

Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2
Book of Shadows is one of the most notorious films of all time, since it has built up a nice reputation for itself. Being a sequel to the standout Blair Witch Project, the sequel ditches a majority of the aspects that made the original film great, thus creating a hodgepodge of awkward scenes, odd cuts, and a film that could have been terrifying, but winds up leaving a bad taste after finishing. This seems to be the start of the studio editing, where studios come in and edit films, creating films that are completely different than what the director intended. This was seen with the 8th installment of the Halloween franchise, as well as Ti West's Cabin Fever 2. It seems that studios want sequels, but end up making cuts of them that end up being terrible films. While this film isn't the worst horror film that's ever been released, it's far from the greatness of the first film. There really could have been an interesting psychological film here, looking into group hysteria and how that can affect the masses, but this film seemed to ditch that effort for cheap scares and mediocre, predictable plot.
