Don’t really understand the hype around this one, sure it’s get heavy, disgusting gore but apart from that it’s your run of the mill horror. The ending is kinda cool and a bit of a twist but nothing spectacular. Everything in the town is cursed and once the gate has been opened there seems to be no stopping it. The effects are dated and look silly at times, but not all cult classics are for everyone I guess. It’s not terrible and there are some good moments, but I didn’t get much enjoyment from this.

Liza herda uma propriedade, um hotel, ela tem planos de reforma-lo, porém o local possui uma maldição e um alerta sobre uma antigo profecia. The Beyond é um filme que utiliza do conceito de propriedade mal assombrada para entregar uma salada de subgêneros do horror com foco no gore e na violência que suas vítimas são submetidas. E todo tipo de esquisitisse mórbida que se pode imaginar, com uma direção que prioriza as expressões de pavor e os momentos mais agoniantes, esse filme se entrega como um filme de terror honesto que conta uma história direta que, apesar dos momentos repetidos ou jogados na câmera, ainda é um filme que entrega uma proposta de filme fantasioso e exagerado como ele se apresenta desde sua introdução e se mantém assim ate o fim, uma grata surpresa para um longa de apenas 1 hora e 27 minutos.
The Beyond
The Beyond displays a filmmaker at their best. Combining the Italian giallo with the southern gothic aesthetic to create a hybrid unlike anything else, The Beyond shows the strength that Fulci has as a filmmaker. Out of the films I’ve seen thus far, it’s definitely the most interesting visually, with some of the best effects that I’ve seen as well. The score pushes the film along at the perfect pace, leading up to a truly unforgettable conclusion. Every gear is running at full throttle in The Beyond, which could have made it a disaster, but everything works so well together that it manages to create a beautiful cacophony within the horror genre. Truly one of the best horror films that I have seen in a very long time. This is one film that I’m going to be ranting and raving about for a very, very long time. Absolutely stunning.

an absolute mind-melter of surreal horror hell. Fulci's masterpiece. gobsmacking gore, sadistic. totally ripping finale. maybe don't inherit an old hotel that's built over one of the gates to hell?
