Diary Entry forFaces
Nothing happens yet lots happen at the same time. It’s difficult to write about this as it’s such a unique film, it’s enjoyable but does feel very long. The dialogue is very well written and it’s surprising funny at times. The themes are well explored and depressing, while all overwhelming you with sense of unease. Overall it’s a good film but it feels very long and can feel a bit draining.

Faces
"But I am myself. Who else would I be?" A damning piece of cinema that strips down its characters to their most vulnerable. Faces is an uncomfortable look into a dissolving marriage. A surgical deconstruction of the very core that makes use human — our emotions, regrets, the moments of anguish, discomfort, disgust. It is all on full display here, in it’s purest form. I’m not too sure what else to say about this film other than I foundFaces a better movie that the first Cassavetes film I saw, Husbands. I am not going to pretend I have no issues with this film, but I think I’d rather keep these to myself. Facesis excruciatingly realistic in its portrayal of lives not lived. It’s sad and unbearable to stick with at times, but is simply too uniquely depressing to ignore. Wow. I am big sad.
