Diary Entry forFocus
Enjoyed it but there are several moments that just feel silly or so absurd that it becomes unbelievable and takes you out of the time. The whole ‘pick any player’ double or nothing stunt felt way too silly and they never explained what would happen if he lost, he just says they’d keep doubling till he won which makes absolutely no sense. Even a gamble addict wouldn’t just keep doubling until they lost especially since Will Smiths character has no proof that he even has the money past the original $1m. Maybe I’m overthinking it, it’s still a fun movie which isn’t meant to be taken too seriously, so it’s silly probably worth a watch. Also, the twist of it being his dad was so stupid it made me laugh out loud. lol.

PLEASE i only like the first 50 minutes, after that the genre change... i hope this movie could just stick with the robbery crime theme but nah the romance even feels so cringey, what i like is just about the robbery scene, the other was mid. Oh at first i thought this movie is a action movie but i'm wrong, this movie is also visually perfection but the editing or transition is so harsh and not smooth. Please give me a moment to see the visual.

I'm actually surprised at all of the bad reviews this film is getting! I understand the shift from the first half to the second half was odd, but the second half actually offered a lot! Will Smith and Margot Robbie were great! They actually had a lot of chemistry and made everything seem believable. The gambling scene almost drove me mad with anxiety! I don't think I've been that anxious about a scene in a long time. The second half's shift was odd though. I was thinking they were going to continue on, not go forward years in advance. I'm not sure how they were going to go with the story if they had continued with the first half though. They could have done a little more with the gambling, but they wouldn't have been able to make the con artist movie they were trying to make. With the making of the second half, they were able to show how the characters were changed after years of doing what they were doing. It showed the manipulation that occurs so that they can get the almighty dollar. That manipulation was done quite well in my opinion. I honestly really liked the second half of the film. Granted, they could have expanded on some ideas a little more, but I'm happy with the route that they took with Focus. Will Smith and Margot Robbie honestly were outstanding. I'm really surprised that people find this film disappointing, since I'm actually really surprised at how good it was.
