Some really epic moments help cover up my least favourite Leone film (except for his first), as I found parts of this quite uninteresting. There is lots of talk about the strange acting choices, which I didn’t really mind, and I thought James Coburn as John was brilliant in this. The epic train explosion at the end and Johns death were both very well done, but in the middle the film completely transforms from a robbery film to a revolution film and it’s hard not to get lost in what’s going on. I enjoyed it, but it does seem to lack focus and meaning, which are the parts I didn’t enjoy as much. Still, a fun time which may go on for slightly too long.

What a duo. I thought this was fantastic. Juan was hilarious. The action was great. The explosions were awesome. Nice story. Maybe 5-10 minutes too long, but not much I’d get rid of. Bit of a stall in the end of the first act, but pretty much nonstop besides that. Big fan of this one. Shocked more people haven’t watched it. 8.5
