Diary Entry forFirst Man
Interesting story, but extremely boring. To be honest, as much as Ryan Gosling is a great actor, he doesn’t fit this role at all. Feel asleep three times while watching this and had to rewind to catch back up. Extremely slow, not much to really say other than that. Some nice cinematography.

J'ai pas été captivité par le film mais les musiques sont très belles

Shoot, I just don't think I'm gonna' ever hit that connection point with Chazelle's films. La La Land left me high and dry, I've tried and failed to finish Babylon three times now, and looking back I mostly enjoyed Whiplash for Simmons' full submersion into skull-fuck mode (the added benefit being that the film jettisons everything except basically the two of them). Here we have the strenuous and methodical aspects of space travel, all the glamour and myth-making mostly sidelined, and that's my favorite aspect. I remember an interview with one astronaut stating how they have to be clinically hyper-aware of the 482 ways that space can kill them at step A, and then depending on what happens, be hyper-aware about the subsequent 503 ways space can kill you at step B, and so on and so on until a mission is somehow pulled off. That's the good stuff. The other component, of an engineer trying to problem-solve grief itself has a lot of potential, and the imagery unites with it at times, but feels like there's books worth of inner work that never hits the screen for me outside of a few moments here and there. :(
First Man
Spec-ta-cular. The ending song of this film feels like a mix between City Of Stars and Hero, so that describes how much this film worked. The cinematography was excellent, the aesthetic it'so right and gorgeous, the score is just great and the acting is top notch, specially Gosling and Foy's performance. Chazelle proven himself again as a versatile and consistent director, so i can wait to see what is coming next from him. Dazzling, powerful and exciting. Definetely one of the best films of the year, and that i consider to watch it again in some point on blu-ray.
