Diary Entry forAustin Powers: International Man of Mystery
Some great moments, such as the poker scene and cheating confrontation, and some jokes which go on for way to long that they become unfunny. It’s a mixed bag but I did enjoy watching and had some good laughs.

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery
Austin Powers was the comedy that I grew up on. Along side Mel Brooks' films, these films were the epitome of comedy. At such young an age I was when I first watched these films, there was no way that I was going to understand everything that was going on, let alone understand the references and innuendos. But, these films were funny, they genuinely made me laugh, which made them exactly do what they were supposed to do. While I don't find these films as hilarious as I once did, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery still remains to be one of the few comedies that I actually find funny. Now that I'm out of the house, an adult, it's fun to watch films that I liked as a kid, and this was a film that I really thought was funny. Being young and watching these films was interesting, since I didn't have a clue what they were talking about, but the gags made me laugh. Now that I'm an adult, I understand every reference, which may not be the best thing for the case of this film. This film, when I was younger, was funny because of gags, because of Mr. Bigglesworth, not really knowing all of the innuendos that were in the film. Typically, these aren't my favorite types of comedies, I don't tend to find sex jokes to be the funniest things out there, but some of them do seem to work for this film. Whether it be a character's name, like Alotta Fagina, or the outrageous outfits, they make the film really memorable and makes the film fun to watch. I knew that this was a spy film when I was younger, but I didn't realize at the amount of parody that this film managed to achieve. Stereotypes and tropes are the basis of the parody, focusing on the outrageous elements that are featured in spy films. This parody manages to be funny, while looking at it through the lens of spy films, since it really does show just how outrageous some spy films can be. The names, the locations, the supervillain, the escape plans, the undercover egos, all of them make it in the film, creating a parody that is interesting to watch, even if the comedy aspect of the film isn't something that I enjoyed the most. Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery may not be as funny as I recall from my childhood, but it certainly isn't a boring film. There are points in this film that really did make me laugh, which doesn't happen too often in comedies. I may not be the biggest fan of Mike Meyers now, but it's always a treat to see Elizabeth Hurley in a film. This film really is nostalgic for me and brings me back to my early entrance into film, a feeling that always is nice to experience again.

Very fun but I think it drags a bit towards the end. That opening dance number… cinema. 7/10
Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery
I remember seeing this in theaters at 12 years old and thinking this was maybe the funniest movie ever made. I don’t know that I feel that way anymore, but I’ll be damned if it isn’t still hilarious.
