Kubrick makes nothing but masterpieces, and even though this is more simple than some of his other works it doesn’t mean it’s any worse. The dialogue is perfect and story entertaining though it, what more could you possibly want.

The Killing

The Killing is tight, stylish, and brilliantly structured, with Kubrick’s sharp direction keeping the tension high throughout. The non-linear storytelling adds energy and complexity without losing focus. Overall, The Killing is a lean and highly influential crime classic that still feels fresh.

The Killing

Auteurs: Stanley Kubrick Film #3: The Killing Similar to Kubrick's previous film Killer's Kiss, The Killing is an entertaining, quick film, and while it isn't as remarkable as Kubrick's later films, it's still an enjoyable film. Feeling like a mix of drama with full-on noir, The Killing really starts to bring lighting into the mix, as well as Kubrick's clean style of directing. While the three plots tended to get a little muddled at times, this still was a fine film from Kubrick. It's interesting seeing Kubrick's earlier works, since they are a little less heavy on aesthetic, while more focusing on characters, which he certainly does in his later films, but his directorial style shines more later, where here it seems as if this could be a film that any director would have done, rather than the auteur Stanley Kubrick. Nonetheless, this is still a fantastic film from Kubrick.

The Killing

This film perfectly shows the line between doing everything right and at perfect time but it all comes down to luck.
