Diary Entry forThe Colossus of Rhodes
Despite being a historical epic, which I usually love, this misses the mark by some distance. By the greatest filmmaker of all time, or at least one of, this is Leones weakest and earliest work. There is lots to love, the scope and set designs are great, as are the costumes, but the acting and story leave lots to be desired. The main girl, Diala, is so poorly written it’s a joke, all she does is look like 🤨 the entire film and betray the hero time and time again. Yet she’s attractive so he forgives her. It’s really not good, but in a strange way I did enjoy watching it. I’d only recommend if you want to complete Leones filmography or if you like vintage historical epics. Plus the colossus looks surprisingly realistic. Oh and the ending with an earthquake was terrible, it should’ve been a massive battle instead.

The Colossus of Rhodes
Definitely not Leone's best film; I've certainly seen better from him. Nevertheless, anyone interested in ancient Rome should definitely watch this film. It wasn't really for me, but it was nice to see something different from Leone. Just don't expect too much from him.
The Colossus of Rhodes
Sue me. I thought this was good. Heavy Spartacus vibes which I also enjoyed. I liked this was an hour shorter lmao. Thought the action was entertaining and the plot was good. No egregious haircuts either. That weapon was pretty sweet; really the whole set was. Pretty remarkable this came out when it did. 7.4
