Lots to love about this one, especially the ending which is simply great. The film is iconic, with chilling performances and excellent effects. The police are useless, but this is often the case in films. Classic horror.

A haunting thriller and a profound reflection on identity and depersonalization. Christiane not only loses her face after an accident but also loses her sense of self. Beyond experiencing physical tragedy, the film shows how this loss transcends into the psychological realm, leaving Christiane trapped in a version of herself she can no longer recognize. Through her fatherâs obsession with restoring her appearance, the film critiques the objectification of the human body, treating her as a project and forgetting that what truly defines her goes beyond the visible, something she herself also wrongly falls into.
