Diary Entry forThe Alto Knights
Really enjoyed this. Can be convoluted at times but it’s an interesting story and one I’m glad got adapted into cinema. RDN is probably the best ever and he’s still good in this, but not at the best I’ve seen him which is understandable. Overall it’s a good time and one I’d recommend to anyone who enjoys mob films.

The Alto Knights
The Alto Knights
There’s an interesting story to tell here, but due to some odd editing and script choices, The Alto Knightsbecomes a film more interested in embodying Scorsese than crafting something of its own. This truly is a bizarre film, whether it be from the odd fade-outs to the dual performance from De Niro (which rightfully is noteworthy, though a bit odd for him to play both when there are plenty of other people more than capable of playing opposite him). The blunt violence felt like they were trying to emulate the violence from Scorsese’s films, but ultimately falls flat, leaving the sequences feeling adrift amongst an already meandering film. The story itself is interesting, but isn’t interesting enough to warrant an entire 2 hour long film that has a handful of decent scenes. A giant miss for a film that tries far too hard to be something it isn’t.
The Alto Knights
