Diary Entry forOpus
Opus is disappointing. It’s like a mashup of recent A24 successes, yet it brings nothing new and doesn’t really say a lot. The pacing is all over the place and the acting is a bit flat from all involved. I didn’t feel any emotion or care for this at all, it’s not bad it’s just bland and about as surface level as a film can get.

Opus
I don't know what happened in there but Moretti's new song is such a banger! i would love to come to his secret listening party. By the way is there any artist that does this? it's pretty creepy if this happens in real life. This movie is like Midsommar meeting Blink Twice which i love it! The ending kinda seems off, but after reading explanation.. Ohh Ariel you're doomed girl, you cannot escape that cult ever.
Opus
A heart because of Ayo.

“Then what do you call a group that does nothing together?” “Congress.” Ngl they cooked with that line lol. Beyond enjoying Ayo Edebiri’s performance, I didn’t really get much out of this. It was nice to see Amber Midthunder again too, even if she had minimal screen time. Oh and the lens flare in that one shot was pretty cool.
Opus
Opusis a hypnotic examination of the cult of celebrity, honing in on over-the-top characters and how we, as an audience, connect to them. Edebiri and Malkovich have two very different portrayals here, which compliment each other to a tee. Both are charismatic characters on opposite sides of the spectrum, but both hold their own space while together, which is a dynamic that absolutely pops on screen. But, I fear our Icarus may have flown a bit too close to the sun here - not so much in the sense of being burned, but being blinded by the sun and losing themself on the way. There are a lot of ideas here, which I think needed a little more time to marinate to make a worthy impact. To hold your cards close to your chest the entire film, only to reveal a hand that is good, but isn’t great, made the work to get to the climax seem anti-climactic. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a highly intriguing film, but I think it may have bit off a bit more than it could chew. That being said, I was far from being bored, since I really found myself enjoying the journey, I just wasn’t the biggest fan of where we ended up.
