Diary Entry forOut of the Past
My favourite film genre is noir, and I don’t think that’ll ever change. This is an all time classic noir film, and one of the best I’ve seen so far. So many twists and turns but it flows so well and is easy to follow and understand. The dialogue is what makes this so good, I wish people spoke like this to each other as it makes for much more entertaining conversations. Jane Greer kills like four people in this and she steals every scene she’s in. A great movie.

Well this here noir laid itself out like a warm knife cutting through butter. The banter, the camera, the machinations, all moving along in a quiet, assured manner. Straight-line genre work that builds the intrigue almost gently.

felt boring at first, but once I understood why Jeff was pulled back into his past, that’s when it started to get engaging.
