Very boring but at the same time not a ‘bad’ film. Like many older best picture winners, not much is at stake and the bar is pretty low. Out of the two runners, one has to overcome being a Scottish Christian and the other an English Jew. However the themes aren’t really explored without them mentioning it a couple times. You don’t really see any discrimination towards them or prejudice. The film is unbelievably English, which as an Englishman I don’t mind but will admit it gets a bit much at times. Cambridge looks almost cult like as a University. Overall not bad but definitely not entertaining.
