Ms. Marvel Episode 1: Wasn’t expecting much as this is like a low-budget show instead of an official MCU show, but I was interested to see what they did with the character. First of all, the actress is great. She really killed it in this first episode and I’m excited to see where her character goes. That’s about all I enjoyed about the first episode. Her Mother calling her dress ‘revealing’ really says a lot. The dress couldn’t be more modest if it tried. Makes me sad the 16 year old isn’t allowed to dress as she pleases and go to conventions without having to argue with her parents. It’s borderline abusive in my opinion. The show plays it off for comedy but it’s not very funny. Plus, hate to say it, her outfit was ugly and definitely wasn’t the best there. Her side kick friend character seems fine if not a bit plain. The post credit scene was good and hopefully it’ll prove to be interesting in episode 2. A bad start but not completely awful. 4/10 Episode 2: Feels very much like every other MCU show, which isn’t necessarily bad or good. The main character is very likeable and the display of sexism is very accurate and interesting to see. Lots of social commentary. I really like Ms Marvel though, she’s the best character in the show by some distance and it’ll be interesting to see what her love interests actual ambitions are. A lot better than episode 1 but still not overly interesting or exciting. 6/10 Episode 3: Feels a bit like a throw away episode in many ways, the wedding scene was good but action sequence after was pretty awful. The ‘you can’t find me’ trope isn’t done very well as she mysteriously vanishes multiple times and the government are so inept at finding this 17 year old it’s embarrassing. She legit just wants out of an emergency exit with Bruno and nobody notices. Very convenient. 4/10 Episode 4: Goofy. They really didn’t hold back with the cringe on this one. Feels like you’re watching a CW show. Unbelievably bad CGI, some of the worst one liners I’ve seen in all of Marvel, silly action sequences and bad acting. Ms. Marvel is literally the only reason to watch this show, she’s great but everything else is pretty awful. All the jokes miss, the story is boring and the villains are worst of all. Feel like a 8 year old could’ve wrote more convincing bad guys. 2/10 Episode 5: Kamran is a d!ck. The episode is fine, better than the last but still not amazing. CGI is pretty bad, but at least this one had some good moments. Majority of the episode is a flash back sequence which was okay but I’d of preferred more of Kamala. Not sure about the government villains, guess we’ll find out their intentions in the finale. 6/10 Episode 6: Pretty meh ending. Punching a hole in the floor which leads to the docks is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen, anyone with half a brain would realise how ridiculous that is. Also, unbelievable levels of cringe and bad writing. Kamala is pretty much the only good character, her parents are good but don’t really do much and the villains are all laughably bad. Almost all MCU shows have terrible villains but I’d argue this has the worst. The government lady isn’t scary or intimidating she’s just annoying and is useless at her job. When she gets sacked she just kind of walks away and that’s it. Seeing Cpt Marvel at the end was cool and the mutant reveal happened, it was okay. 6/10 Overall: Pretty meh but sadly this is the worst MCU show so far for me. Kamala is great but can’t save the bad writing, pointless villains and subpar CGI. Everything about the show is just okay and there is literally no great moments. The fight scenes are bad to mediocre and it’s a shame because I like the concepts on display. Maybe I’m getting fatigue from MCU, but who knows. Onto She-Hulk which, from the trailers, looks laughably bad.

Marvel Studios Assembled: The Making of Ms. Marvel

For anyone wondering, yes this is now my 2nd favorite Disney+ MCU show (close behind "Loki") "Ms. Marvel" is a mostly fantastic show! I'd say it's strongest in Episode 1, 2, 3 and 6 (the finale). Seeing Ms. Marvel interact with her friends Bruno and Nakia, her stressful family life and the importance of her religion/community is amazing stuff! It's very reminiscent of "Spider-Man: Homecoming" but it's better. The editing is quick and the whole show has a punky comic book style to it which makes this even more unique! This show is also a genuine character drama, unlike previous D+ MCU entries. We get a lot of time with Kamala's brother Aamir, Kareem and Kamran. Kamala's father is also one of my favorite characters in the show, just a sweet dude (that finale scene was cute). It's nice to see P. Cleary again (last seen in "Spider-Man: No Way Home"). He's a fun character and I was happy to see him again in this series. It's nice to see an MCU show take time to develop relationships and give more side characters just as much screen time as the main cast. Also it needs not be said but obviously Iman Vellani is GREAT as Ms. Marvel! I'd say my main problem is the show kinda detours for Episode 4 and 5. These episodes, while fine, ditch the side characters previously established. It kinda falls back into MCU formula which sucks cause the show works best when it's a "coming-of-age" teen drama. Thankfully the finale brings it right back to where it should be! Outside of some pacing issues and the MCU formula slipping back in a bit, I think the series was incredible! I know some people don't like the power change and the revelation that Kamala is a mutant (which I'll admit is a weird change) but that doesn't change the show for me at all
