Sansho the Bailiff is undoubtedly a masterpiece of cinema. The film opens explaining the film is an adaptation of a tale which has been told throughout the ages, but it’s still a tale which holds value today. Slavery, and the mistreatment and cruelty of humanity is so rampant it’s almost second nature, but this film reminds you that not all hope is truly lost, and as impossible as life may seem, there is always hope.
