Was looking forward to watching this for a long time, but for me this was quite boring. The story and premise is similar enough, exploring the market crash of 2008, but after you find out what caused the crash the whole thing becomes a lot less interesting. The acting is solid and there are no bad performances, but the whole thing is just pretty bland. Wish it was more engaging, but it does have a good cast which literally carries the storytelling. Also wasn’t a massive fan of the direction in this, felt too choppy for my liking but oh well, still an enjoyable watch.

Had to rewatch this gem. So good. When you take the time to research at the same time, and allow yourself to understand the concepts… it makes you pretty pissed off as it’s a stark reminder of the corruption that plagues Corporate America. I did not have nor want nor need a hero in this film, because at the end of the day, they’re all scum, and that’s okay. That’s my two cents and a biscuit. Brilliantly made film, great acting, tasteful breaking of the 4th wall. Brava

The Big Short feels like a film that is necessary, as it exposes what happened to the economy and what caused so many people to lose their jobs While this doesn't actually show what happened, it instead shows the people that caught wind of it early, making money off of it. The entire cast gives amazing performances, with Carell stepping out of his comedy realm to give a great performance. While The Big Short may be hard to follow, it's an amazing film. It's insane to think that a film about banks and finance could be interesting, but McKay's direction keeps it fresh and captivating. Being the final film of the Best Picture category, I can say that this ranks extremely high on my list. **Note: Why did Christian Bale get the nomination? I feel Steve Carell should have gotten it, as he gave a better performance than anyone in the film.**
