The Mummy is a classic horror story, with lots to enjoy. Like almost all Hammer films, it’s not scary in the slightest, but that’s not really the point. The acting and costume designs are both strong and the story is interesting. It’s good fun but don’t expect to even be a little scared.

The Mummy

Hooptober 9 (https://boxd.it/iw0h4) #6 of 33 • 2 of 2 Christopher Lee (https://letterboxd.com/actor/christopher-lee/genre/horror/) films My main problem with the 1932 Mummy (https://letterboxd.com/film/the-mummy/) was that they showed this totally creepy stalker-like corpse in the first 10 minutes, and then he was just a regular dude for the rest of the film. That problem was somewhat fixed in this one, but the mummy just doesn't look nearly as good as in the original. This one takes home the prize for a better story, but you just can't beat Karloff's spine-tingling demeanor.
