Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Unbelievably disappointing and one of the worst films I’ve seen all year. It has a few funny moments here and there but mostly feels like it was written by AI. The story is horrendous and the script was laughably bad. When Phoebe Waller-Bridge talks about how she learnt this code when she was 8 it felt more like a parody than an actual film. No hate towards her though or any of the other actors, it’s not their fault. The director and writers probably need a career change though. Two stars is incredibly generous and I may change this to an even lower rating.

Nostalgia substantivo feminino 1. saudades de algo, de um estado, de uma forma de existência que se deixou de ter; desejo de voltar ao passado. 2. melancolia profunda causada pelo afastamento da terra natal. Voltar ao passado tem sempre uma conotação amarga, uma resistência em aceitar e lidar com o presente que se configura nesse retorno a algo intangível; a nostalgia, atualmente, é tanto uma estratégia corporativista como a resposta inconsciente de um mal-estar com a realidade que culmina no eterno retorno reacionário e melancólico. Ao mesmo tempo em que Indiana Jones e a Relíquia do Destino é um filme sobre isso em algum nível, ele também é a síntese da problemática. O que sobra aqui é reunir os cacos de uma franquia já distante do seu sucesso para confeccionar o capítulo mais aborrecido e burocrático de sua marca; resta a James Mangold ficar com a ingrata responsabilidade de operar uma produção esquemática através dos códigos mais genéricos possíveis, sem qualquer imaginação em compôr imagens minimamente interessantes, mas espelhar as iconografias pré-estabelecidas dos anteriores com profundo desinteresse. Tudo é meramente um aceno saudosista que está mais interessado na superficialidade de tais ícones ao invés de reimaginá-las para além de um comentário raso direcionado ao discurso imperialista que está na espinha dorsal da saga. Um pastiche sem inventividade alguma e exemplar definitivo de uma indústria em crise.

Oh man...I'm so glad I got to see Crystal Skull and Dial Of Destiny in the cinema. This movie was FANTASTIC. The de-aging was really good! Unfortunately for the 1st minute the movie kept glitching out on screen :/ All of the action scenes were fun. Harrison still had the charm of Indiana. Phoebe was incredible, Sold every scene she's in. Mads was an amazing villain (no shit). My dad, grandma & I were very emotional watching it. Great ending to a great movie series.
