real. and scary. funny in the darkest way in it that it shouldn’t be, more of a “humor to cope” kind of funny. i get what is being portrayed here, the failure of many systems when such a terrible event happens. solid performance from victor. and i am impressed by this as a debut. she feels like a comedy writer. i’ll double check i like the characters the lucas hedges plays. they are similar in a innocent boyish naive but caring way. fun characters. story structure with the chapters broken up and out of order ish. common W by the cat distribution system “im sorry that bad things are going to happen to you” such a simple thing to express to a baby that feels so deep AH THE TITLE! i see now

everyone needs a friend who will either willingly burn your assaulter’s office or cook hotdogs to keep up with your lie. in all seriousness, its insane how life really present you shitty cards to be dealt with where will leave you traumatized for the rest of your life and you would have to learn to live with it. with such a heavy topic the film handled it with so much care & tenderness with a little bit of humor bcs yeah life is really just like that sometimes — even though we wish it isnt. incredible incredible directorial debut from eva victor and i forever love you naomi ackie. FUCK MEN

Acho muito digno quando um filme se debruça e fala sobre assuntos tão auspiciosos, mas ao invés de embelezar ou diminuir tudo com um humor sem graça ou ironia barata, ele se permite ser uma jornada tão íntima, dolorosa, conflitante e ainda sim tão... Amarga, mas com sutilezas de uma energia boa que surgem dos locais mais inusitados. Incrível como a Eva Victor monta o filme no esquema de capítulos, mas ao invés do esquema de episódios, eles são pontes. É curioso como em "Sorry, Baby" existe algo que me lembrou o último filme do Petzold, é um filme que a montagem emite coisas, mas explana outras como forma de criar um fantasma, uma presença, mas ao invés das assombrações que são tudo metáfora pra algum diagnóstico de TikTok, o mal é interno, é algo que te persegue, é a memória e a falta de energia para continuar existindo. Pulsão de vida é como eu defino a protagonista de Eva Victor, ela é passiva agressiva, tem um impulso de violência que é menos explosivo e mais contemplativo e tenta reencontrar sentido nas coisas básicas... A transa semanal com o vizinho, as visitas da amiga que aqui é literalmente seu motivo de viver, a frase: "Agnes por favor não morra..." é carregada de tanto impacto quanto a expressão das personagens. É bem humorado, é melancólico, pesa o clima, é difícil, mas é tão tão lindo... A cena final com o bebê é um monólogo tão forte... Ela está oferecendo ajuda a futura mulher que vai surgir daquele bebê ou pedindo desculpas a si mesma!? Lindo como poucos conseguem.
