K-12
K-12 is the latest project from musician Melanie Martinez, who decided to create a full length film companion to her album. While this isn’t anything new when it comes to album releases, it’s been a while since I actually saw a full length feature companion. It’s a shame that this was the first full film that I’ve seen, since it let me underwhelmed. While it does capture Martinez’s distinct aesthetic with Crybaby, the plot was thin, and characters weren’t realized enough for me to connect with anyone. It’s still a fun film to watch, and gives interesting visuals to pair with her music, but overall, I’m left underwhelmed by K-12, but maybe more time with the album will help me appreciate this film more.
