Daniel Day-Lewis as Johnny is the definition of “bad boy with a heart.” I’m obsessed.

My Beautiful Laundrette
❝Ain't nothing I can say to make it up to you. There's only things I can do to show you... That I am with you.❞ •❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅• My Beautiful Laundrette was an interesting film, and dealt with issues that are still plaguing England today, unfortunately. One big thing I liked was how Omar and Johnny's relationship was handled; they were just two guys who happened to be gay. Instead, the main themes explored were related to rasicm during the Thatcher days and dynamics within the South Asian community, and they were handled relatively well. The plot had a lot of promise, but felt very disjointed and muddled. I was confused during a lot of moments, and they only made sense towards the end. Gordon Warnecke was good, but a little stiff at times; Daniel Day-Lewis did an excellent job as Johnny, and had great chemistry with Gordon. All in all, My Beautiful Laundrette was a decent watch, but not one I'll be revisiting soon.
