Beautiful and deep movie, kinda relate to Anders (without addiction of drugs), depressed, didn't know what to do with life, feel late to restart, everyone hates me and wants to end everything. I'm scare i would being a loser, but hey, everyone have their struggles in this movie, but Anders's struggle is look like me and it's very complicated. Had to speechless for an hour after watching it.

Oslo, August 31st is the type of honest film that lets you reflect and meditate on modern societal pressures. This film touches your very soul, and I can guarantee it will not leave my memory any time soon. A powerful statement about mental health and substance abuse, with a character that is as normal as you and I. I’m in shambles after finishing this film, and hate the fact that it took me so long to finally watch it.

i'm looking for sympathy. i want someone to feel sorry for me. the genuine brilliance of this film resides in its capacity to explore the complexities of anders' life as well as the difficulties of addiction treatment. i appreciate how joachim trier avoided sensationalism by depicting addiction and recovery as a gritty and ordinary challenge edit: just watched louis malle's 'the fire within'. one csn clearly see the influence it had on this film. love that trier acknowledged that he was paying homage to malle's film
