The opening scene in this film is absolutely phenomenal! It's more gripping than the entire movie itself, solidifying its place as the best opening scene in Indonesian cinema.

if i found out i had long lost family or family that once lived in a remote village and the only way to get answers was to go to said remote village. too bad, im not going, not gonna happen, period! if the information cannot be brought to me then i dont need to know it. i did not expect so many de@d babies. that was disturbing. the Sally Hardesty inspired escape was *chef's kiss* i am pissed at that ending. fuck her she should be burning in hell.

Probably one of the wildest films up for nomination at the Academy Awards that I’ve seen, Impetigoreoffers a rich story that stands out among those up for nomination. I should have listened to myself and watched this earlier, since it absolutely blew me away. It manages to throw in some impressive scares, but doesn’t rely on jump scares to push the film along. It’s an impressive feat that is worthy of consideration.

For a script that has been developed for 10 years-long, Perempuan Tanah Jahanam unfortunately lacks a lot. Sure it has a creepy and unsettling atmosphere thanks to its haunting music score and powerful casts, but this movie chose to reveal the mystery in a lazy and too detailed way. What a shame.
