Scent of a Woman is simply emotional and conveys a feeling of peace and security. Knowing that this is Alpacino's first Oscar makes me very happy – absolutely deserved. I love New York, so this film was another success, even if you don't see much of the city. Overall, a solid film that will stay with you.

That Ferrari sequence was my favorite part, but I definitely felt the whole 2.5 hours. The “courtroom” ending scene earned it an extra half star. Intrusive thought: kinda hard to believe that this is the performance that Pacino won an Oscar for out of all his other acclaimed roles.

"there is nothing like the sight of an amputated spirit. there is no prosthetic for that."  integrity comes in many forms and i do believe it comes in the form of charlie simms. not black, not white, not even grey. just, integrity in his own conditions. integrity also comes in the form of frank slade, an integrity that he thought was lost because of combat and idiotic decisions that lead to the loss of his eyesight but will always be bubbling in the surface not because he "likes the power" or "likes to feel important" but because he also has integrity that will never move his decisions.  imagine finding life in a 17-year old who's supposed to take you through your "bucket list" and instead of finding life in luxury, lust, and material wealth—you find it in the integrity and soul of an innocent charlie simms. frank slade and charlie simms is such a beautiful father/son (somewhat) relationship and i loved it very much.
