Poltergeist

Extended Cuts of a film allows the film to be freer, often allowing things to settle that seem a little chaotic in the theatrical cut. A prime example of a film that is better in the Extended Cut is last year's Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, where the film was able to expand more on things and generally made the film easier and better to watch. For many other films, this is exactly what happens. But, strangely enough, the Extended Cut of Poltergeist was actually worse than the theatrical version. I wasn't a fan of the original Poltergeist film, so it wasn't a surprise when I didn't enjoy the remake. After waiting a while to watch the film, I decided that it was time to give the film another chance, this time watching the Extended version of the film. With my previous watches of Extended films being much more enjoyable, I was excited to give this film another chance. But after starting the film, I realized just how bad of a film this really is. I've always had a problem with big studio horror films. Relying only on jump scares, there really isn't much else to the films. Jump scares are a cheap way for a film to be "scary", instead of actually taking the time to make a film truly frightening. Poltergeist doesn't even attempt to create a creepy atmosphere, but instead just modernizes a film that really didn't need to be modernized. The modernization didn't just stop at the technology, but at the props as well, with the iconic frightening clown becoming nothing more than a doll with a sinister face. The film heavily relied on typical horror film tropes and suspenseful music to keep the film going instead of actually creating a decent horror film. With the additional scenes, Poltergeist just became a mundane adaptation of a classic horror film. I really wish studios realized that jump scares aren't the only way to scare the audience, but there are many other ways to make a film frightening (see The Conjuring for a prime example). I'm not sure why I decided to buy Poltergeist on Blu Ray, but it's one film that will sit on my shelf and not be watched for a long time. Maybe once I start actually enjoying the original film I will find a love for this film. Or maybe it's just a generally terrible film that will get worse after each watching.

Poltergeist

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Absolutely nothing scary about this. The only thing that actually is scary is that people are watching it still. Poltergeist didn't need a remake (I didn't enjoy the original, so I wasn't too hyped about this one either). All this film offers is jump scares and nothing else. I honestly can't tell you anything I really liked about it. Poltergeist is just another one of those summer horror movies that are only meant to bring in the big bucks, not actually scare the audience.

Poltergeist

Este patético intento de recrear el clásico de 1982 deja en ridícula a sus creadores ,la perdida de la esencia principal en su adaptación es mas que notoria ,poltergeist es una de los Remakes menos interesantes y eficaces que puedes ver.
