What Unfriended brings to the table is a type of film that hasn't been released in theaters. There are several indies that have explored this concept, but this is one of the first films to get a big release. Unfriended comes to terms with the modern age and is able to make a film that shows the horror behind social media and the impact that it has. Unfriended looks like it could be a horrifying campaign for online bullying. It shows what possibly (although it feels quite impossible most of the time) could happen because people were posting things on social media. It could be a campaign to show the harm that bullying has, and the effects of suicide. As for the film, it was a treat. There wasn't much violence, but when it came, it came extremely fast and was random. Only flashes would appear, making the viewer only know little of what was actually happening. This is a great technique, for it keeps the viewer intrigued and wanting to know what is happening. The film actually kept me on my toes for the most part. The ending was extremely predictable, but the rest of the film was actually a surprise. Unfriended is an interesting look into the modern age of social media and the effects that it has on those on it. It's an altogether decent horror movie that brings light to a new way to do horror movies. Hopefully this doesn't spawn a whole bunch of internet horror movie, like what happened with found footage.
