Not as good as Tom Holland’s first outing, this one feels kind of empty. Jack Gyllenhaal is fantastic in his role as the villain, yet I can’t help but feel he was underused as Mysterio. Don’t get me wrong, I like Mysterio and his character design is great, but he doesn’t really feel very threatening or scary. The first half an hour and the last half an hour are the most disappointing for me though, the humour is nowhere near as good as in the first and there feels to be nothing at stake. Some of the best scenes are the post credit scenes, which are surprisingly great. However, despite its flaws it does have good charm, and MJ is handled well in this. I’m very excited for the third Tom Holland instalment.
