Dragon Ball Super: Broly

6 anos desde que eu assisti pela primeira vez, e o êxtase enquanto assistia não mudou nada! Acompanho Dragon Ball desde criança. Brincava com meus amigos o dia inteiro fingindo ser o Goku e o Vegeta lutando contra os vilões. Lembro de estar estudando de tarde e vir correndo pra minha casa no recreio pra assistir pelo menos o final do episódio de Dragon Ball Super que passava no Cartoon Network, e ficava com muita raiva porque os horários nunca batiam. Hoje, 7 anos depois, percebo que o que me restou foi o imenso carinho que eu tenho pela saga, e assistir esse filme novamente reascendeu essa paixão. Todas as batalhas, a animação perfeita, as interações dos personagens, a trilha sonora durante as cenas de luta e a música da antiga abertura do desenho, junto com o realce das cores e transformações dos protagonistas foi lindo e emocionante de ver, me fez sentir um imenso sentimento de saudades. Acho que é isto que esse anime deixou encravado no fundo da minha alma, a nostalgia. Essa é mais uma carta de amor do que uma review; é uma expressão do meu carinho, conforto e gratidão que ressoa do lugar mais profundo do meu coração:minha infância.

Dragon Ball Super: Broly

This is the best we’ve ever seen Dragon Ball look, full stop. Up until this point none of the animation in the series has matched the creativity or polished looks we saw in Broly. I knew it was going to look different from the first teaser but wow! What a surprise. Also for the first time since the original animation from the 90s, the fights feel impactful and you can really feel those punches. (Goku getting his ass kicked was ugh, *chef’s kiss*) As for the story, it was the best of the Super movies and I really like the beginning prologue setting up all the characters’ past and how they got to where they are. Also appreciated the ending, it’s not what I was expecting, but it was a welcome change. If I had one major complaint about this movie it would be that, the amount of fighting is fine, but after a certain fan favorite fusion comes into the movie the fight loses all tension. Yeah it still looks cool, but it’s made clear that Broly is not a challenge anymore. Which killed my hype, and left me watching, a visually stunning fight, but a boring one for like 20 minutes.

It's become known for years that Broly was a joke of a character with his stupid motivation and incessant yelling of “KAKAROT”, but after a couple movies and a new arc, Akira Toriyama decides to revisit the character to give him a more interesting motivation and a personality that he didnt have before, and yes it has everything you would expect from Dragonball, the badass music, the incredible fights, the screaming, TONS of screaming, Goku's innocent humor and if you thought the last arc of Super had great animation, get ready cus this movie takes it to a whole new level. If you’re a Dragonball fan, you cannot miss this.
