Naked Lunch
I'd be lying if I said this film didn't confuse me. It utterly confused me. As did the only other Cronenberg film I've seen, Videodrome. But now that I've finished it and let is set for a little while, I have a pretty good idea of what exactly happened. Naked Lunch is bizarre. Cronenberg has created such a complex and surreal film that hits so many different topics. I haven't seen many surrealist films, but from the one's I've seen, they're really interesting. As was this film. I can't really say much about this film. I enjoyed it and I can't wait to re-watch it to get a better understanding of the entire film. It might help some if I actually payed attention the entire time, so I should be able to get a lot more out of this film the next time I watch it. After seeing this, I can't wait to see what else Cronenberg has done.

Cult of Personality 2023 (https://boxd.it/jw0oo) #5 of 52 | Directed by David Cronenberg (https://letterboxd.com/director/david-cronenberg/) A movie about doing drugs made by a guy who was probably on drugs.
Naked Lunch
Directors Suite: David Cronenberg (The Infectious and Seductive and Bleak) (https://boxd.it/12N5S) Noir and jazz; fedora and sax. An exterminator shooting the roach powder into the vein on a literary high, bending all sight of realism and rationalization into a bizarre and buggy wave of 1950s oddity. Spinning on an extermination of mind, logic, and life; a conspiracy conspired and objected, Naked Lunch is dreary and dreamlike Cronenberg, spewed out in both desirable and undesirable direction. By far the director's most distant and less captivating, the film is quite the retreat into the tame surrealism and flow found in earlier Cronenberg features, trading in a stimulating story for a bleak and mumbling clutter of a thriller. Its FX are fine but almost jarring, disrupting the rest of the movie in all of its strange curiosity. Naked Lunch is a somewhat commendable, yet, colorless contribution from Cronenberg. 2.7/5
Naked Lunch
March Madness #10 Confused and intrigued. Not quite sure what to make of this one but I’m quite interested in unraveling its meaning. I will say though that I love the way that this looks. The visuals are really well done, the colors work together quite well and the practical effects are gorgeous.
