Monster's Ball
“I think we’re gonna be alright.” MONSTER’S BALL is a very disturbing (the writers are sick in the head, i’m so serious.) and overall just…sadfilm. Nothing good happens to Halle’s character of Leticia during the entire hour and forty of this film. I believe both the term “oscar bait” and “trauma porn” are applicable here. It’s blow after blow after blow for Leticia and even her “happiness” comes with a sucker punch to the solar plexus at the end. But, when you’re already broken down and have nothing, what’s one more hit right? You can’t even feel it really, and at least you’re living. She’s learned to live within the compromises. Breaks my heart. At least Halle got the Oscar out of this…but it’s just sad that this is the only kind of role the Academy acknowledges and awards when it comes to black women. P.S. Lee Daniels you’re another one that will be dealt with. I promise.
Monster's Ball
Es inesperada cruda y repleta de talento, tiene tanta energía para mostrar el drama Racial y el amor predestinado, es una mina que explota con exito el talento de Halley Berry y Billy Bob, un guion adulto conducido por el intimo ojo de Marc Foster.
