Sierra Burgess Is a Loser
Truth be told, this movie really disappointed me. Sierra Burgess is indeed a fucking loser. Not only does this girl pretend to be deaf for her own benefit, humiliates Veronica just because the boy she is lying to kisses the girl he THINKS HE'S DATING, but also kisses Jamey without his consent. Sierra does not deserve that happy ending. I honestly can't comprehend how she gets the guy. Is a song supposed to make up for all the shitty things she has done? Come on, people. Would somebody do to me what this girl has done to her friends, they'd be shitting musical notes for at least three months. She doesn't even apologise, for fucks sake. Am I supposed to feel sorry for Sierra? Well, I don't.

[30 Day Film Challenge] Day 12: a film that you hate from your favorite genre. you can never go wrong with romcoms. even with the cheesy/ absurd ones, i would still watch it and at least have a little bit of fun. but this movie? no fun whatsoever! the only character that worked out in the end was veronica
Sierra Burgess Is a Loser
In the later half of this year, Netflix has released several romantic comedies, which they haven't typically been known to put out. Sierra Burgess is a Loser is their latest rom com, and while it's not their best film this year, it's still a film full of heart. The film garnered up some controversy, since the titular character portrayed herself as deaf, which many took offense too. This scene was difficult to watch, since it really made no sense, but it really is one of the only concerns with this film. It's a very generic romance, relying heavily on the performances of their cast, which luckily were good actors. The film has a good underlying message, saying that you are worthy of love, no matter how you look, but some of the decisions on how to handle this seemed off. These films can be very uplifting, or they can be very toxic, since they can exaggerate the stereotypes in characters and point out insecurities in many people. This film didn't necessarily do that, but it did have moments where I could see that it could become toxic. Altogether, this film is a lighthearted rom com that I did enjoy. It's not as good as To All the Boys I've Loved Before, but it's definitely one of the more enjoyable films from Netflix this year.
Sierra Burgess Is a Loser
so i'm supposed to believe that this selfish manipulative bitch catfished a guy and humiliated her friend in front of the whole school for something that wasn't even her fault and still got the guy and her friend back in the end? the only thing i liked about this movie was the fact that even though veronica's character is suposed to be the typical teen movie villain she overcome her problems and improved because of it. that's why she became my favourite character which i wasn't expecting to happen but the rest was garbage
