This movie actually have a point that it turns as a horror story. Based on real horrors and wounds that "bigotry" really make. And also the touch on this theme was actually in a grey and subtle way. Temblores is actually a compasive, heartful and ambigous portrait of how (until now where this is officially legal) feels be a homosexual in a tradicional country like Guatemala. A really sublime performances (Juan Olysager & Sabrina de la Hoz were the best ones), a really great shot and paced film. Jayro Bustamante, with his bare hands, is resurging guatemalan cinema. By the way... this and his previous work, Ixcanul, really have some similarities, since the family consecuences related to the protagonist, and the way both movie ends. (but this time, opens the film so right to the point) This is a movie that have really leaved me thinking a lot, and maybe this will leave some with mixed feelings, but this film should not be missed. Looking foward to La Llorona. Update: La Llorona was even more referencial into the guatemalan cinema.

All I could think of was that episode of SpongeBob with the alaskan bull worm. I’m a sucker for practical effects, this movie was a lot of fun.
