i honestly have so much to say but it all just boils down to me saying that its perfect. it definitely exceeds a lot of my expectations and its definitely what you expect for a musical movie. although as someone who had read the book i just felt like the pacing was a little bit TOO fast (bcs they cut a lot of songs from the musical and scenes from the book) so i can understand why some people may felt like the plots went all over the place even though the plots are exactly where it was supposed to be. there’s a lot of changes that happened in the movie too but that’s a conversation for another day. other than that i love that they didn’t shy away with shug and celie’s relationship unlike the original movie where it only showed them kissing and then there’s nothing. like i said this movie is perfect (as far as it can be) down to the acting, singing, cinematography, choreography, and musical numbers. give everyone involved in this project all the awards because wow my life has been changed.

just felt like i watched this movie for the first time again, it just gets better on a rewatch. and really my only criticism on this movie is that they should’ve included too beautiful for words, we needed someone to tell celie that she’s beautiful. like i love that celie was able to come into terms to that on her own but after being told she’s ugly her whole life, it would’ve been so beautiful to see shug telling her how beautiful she is. also the acting really goes crazy in this movie, its insane how they kept losing in these award shows
