Spellbound

As always, starting the new year with Hitchcock. This is simply fantastic, proving once again why he’s my favourite director of all time. The suspense and twists make for a gripping watch. Both leads are obviously great and all the supporting cast are fantastic as well. This is classic Hitchcock which I would recommend to everyone. Happy 2026.

I wish Ingrid Bergman was my therapist. All of my mental illnesses would be cured easily.

Spellbound

"Apparently, the mind is never too ill to make jokes about psychoanalysis.” After watching Scream movies and Love Island these past few days, this film was refreshing!! Spellbound has an interesting premise, and cool ending shots (if you've seen this y'know what I'm talking about), and a dream sequence based on designs by Salvador Dali that is out of this world - honestly it is wonderful and beautiful especially this particular frame (https://twitter.com/OnePerfectShot/status/986439232674811907?s=09). I wish my subconscious coded messages in this type of surreal and creative imagery. The reveals weren't all that great tbh (in terms of storyline) and had little to no shock value. However, it was nice to see how much Hitchcock had since then improved and truly honed the art of storytelling especially in terms of creating psychological-mystery-thriller masterpieces to give us Rear Window and Psycho in the later years. I can't wait to watch Vertigo ;) Also, Gregory Peck was so prettyyy in this that it was almost distracting in the beginning. P.S. Constance, I know exactly what he did in Rome!
