66/100 “I wanna be a hoe. How do I apply?” Man where the did we go wrong? It’s a shame movies like these just don’t get made anymore; to be fair I doubt we have the talent like Eddie Murphy to pull it off but we lost the plot man. These movies were rated poorly back then as well but they worked, they were successful because their sole purpose was to make people laugh and yes some movies of that era have aged poorly but this is hilarious, it’s dirty, it’s got good jokes, there’s clear effort that’s been put into it by Eddie Murphy and it’s simply an excellent comedy movie that will make all generations laugh. It’s not body shaming, it’s fucking Eddie Murphy playing a Chinese man, a black nerdy man and an obese hideous black woman. It’s supposed to be fun, it’s supposed to give you that shock factor and boy does it deliver. Rasputia is genuinely one of the ugliest characters I’ve seen on screen, both inside and outside. The film is simple, it can be explained in one line as the google description does but you don’t come for the story, I really couldn’t care about Thandie Newton (she can’t act for shit btw but she is one gorgeous woman), all I wanted to see was Norbit and Rasputia’s dynamic. They’ve got some of the greatest black comedy actors doing their thing and the physical comedy just hits, there’s no holding back, it’s unfiltered and it’s gold. I enjoyed it a lot. I am gonna have to finish Eddie Murphy’s filmography because I miss what that man used to do for us. Those prosthetics looked too fucking real, that Rasputia ass was as real as it gets.
