Fresh Kill

“We care.” An aggressively 90’s punk film which focuses on the infamous Staten Island landfill through some wildly varying visuals and style — while Fresh Killis considered to be one ofShu Lea Cheang’smost profound films, I could not help but feel out of the loop on this one. I really wanted to like this more. I can applaud the bold narrative direction, but the fact of the matter is that I was never really pulled in. I found the film to be quite difficult to follow which, in turn, made it difficult for me to vibe with it. It’s not very long, so do not let my review change your mind if you’ve been interested in this — who knows? It may very well be your cup of tea.
