The Nightmare Before Christmas
Visually beautiful with iconic shots and a fantastic score. Not a huge fan of the animation stop-motion but I respect the craft and effort which went into this. Jack Skellington is infinitely cool, always dripping and got a good sense of humour. Sure he goes a bit crazy, but who doesn’t? Plus he gets the girl, the mans winning all round. A classic picture.

After watching Coraline, I was curious to see what other films Henry Selick directed. I was shocked to see The Nightmare Before Christmas was one of his films instead of Tim Burton's. So I rewatched it, and Wowza, this movie is awesomesauce. I'm not a gigantic fan of musicals, but how could you not love this film? The Nightmare Before Christmas is the ultimate holiday film, combining two of the best holidays, you can watch this movie in the dead of October or the week of Christmas. If there's anything Selick movies do a stupendous job of, it's making good characters; whether the roles are large or small, they light up the scenes, oozing with personality. The animation, like Coraline, is spectacular. All the locations harness an aura of charm, character designs are incredible, and issues are minuscule. The songs are legendary and will be living in my head rent-free. If there's one thing I wish was done differently, it would be clarification on how seamlessly characters travel through the different holiday-themed worlds. Nonetheless, The Nightmare Before Christmas is a uniquely special film; one that should be recognized as a cinematic 10/10 masterpiece.
