It works quite well though I wish he utilized it a bit more. Strong performances throughout. Cher is even great. It’s about death. It’s about coping. Really about coping. All the terrible things we say to each other, expect of each other, and how mean-spirited in jokes and laughs we muster out of ourselves because, really, what is tragedy without comedy? A beautiful balance and range of character emotions and rushes. With Altman’s use of mirrors, I wish his transitions had been cleaner. Some feel rough and undone. Pulled magic out of the film.
