Realmente eu gostei muito dessa ideia de misturar filme triste com comédia, a amizade do Adam com o Kyle é admirável.

❝You can't change your situation. The only thing that you can change is how you choose to deal with it.❞ •❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅• I had an idea of what to expect going in, but 50/50 was so much better than I anticipated. The plot isn't anything terribly new, but the approach was. There was enough comedy that stopped the film being overwhelming or too dramatised, while still dealing with issues and feelings that arise during such a difficult time. It felt like I was watching the life of an ordinary guy (in a good way), which made the film feel more raw. I'm not the biggest fan of Seth Rogen's comedy, but it wasn't overused and actually worked well here. I loved how, as the treatment progressed, Adam slowly opened up more to Dr. McKay and made decisions to better his life. The driving scene was so powerful, though I wish Adam would've talked through his fears a bit more. There were constant tears flowing down my face watching him find the annotated book in Kyle's apartment, seeing him transform into a little boy wanting his mum, and how scared his parents and Kyle truly were; in my opinion the film dealt with its heavy themes of death, grief and acceptance expertly. The ending was very bittersweet, though I had some questions about the 'don't date patients' rule doctors generally tend to follow. There was some great camerawork in the film and an awesome soundtrack that matched perfectly. Joseph Gordon-Levitt absolutely embodied the role of Adam. As I already mentioned, he felt like just another regular person, and it made him that much more likeable. Seth Rogen was pretty good as Kyle, especially towards the end of the film, and I also think Anna Kendrick and Anjelica Huston were excellent. Unfortunately, I have yet to watch a film with Bryce Dallas Howard where her chatacter isn't somewhere on the scale between dislikable to absolutely loathsome, and Rachael was certainly no exception. While her acting was great, I just couldn't stand Rachael and was so glad Adam didn't take her back. I'm happy that I gave 50/50 a go, and I would definitely revisit it in the future.
